Tampa Bay Buccaneers Not Interested in Adrian Peterson

It's been weeks now since the start of free agency and Adrian Peterson is still searching for a team for next season. So, when he posted a photo of himself working out with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, a lot of people probably raised their eyebrows and started speculating that he's going to sign with the Buccaneers.

Well, it's true the Buccaneers might have to add another running back to their roster since Doug Martin's status with the team remains unclear after he was suspended for the league's drug policy last season. But according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers were just not interested in Peterson.

"You never say never when it comes to personnel matters, but it's hard to be more definitive than to say Peterson is definitely NOT in the Bucs plans," Martin said in his report. "No telling where Peterson eventually lands, but there's almost no scenario where you can picture him in Tampa Bay," he continued.

Well, that's too bad. The Buccaneers were actually one of the teams that Peterson said he would like to join if he didn't re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, and they do have the salary cap to sign him. A lot of observers have noted that the team would probably look for a running back via the draft instead.

Meanwhile, Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter didn't even know Peterson was working out with Winston, and he seemed intrigued when he found out what they were doing.

"I've seen Adrian Peterson many times playing and that guy is one of the best running backs to ever play. I'm anxious to talk to Jameis and ask him how his workouts went. That caught me off guard. I didn't know that," he said during an interview at the annual league meeting last week.
