Taylor Swift, Conor Kennedy Split: Star Says She Won't Go Backwards
For a second time, it has been announced that Taylor Swift's dream of becoming American royalty may have come to an end. While the star has yet to confirm the rumor, one of her most recent interviews may shed light on her relationship with Conor Kennedy.
Swift and Kennedy began dating in what appeared to be a summer romance. The couple was confirmed to be in a relationship at the beginning of August. At the end of August, photos of the couple kissing appeared to reveal that they were still on the romantic track. But a few days ago, rumors surfaced that the couple had split.
Later, People magazine interviewed friends of Kennedy, which also stated that the couple was no longer together. Swift, however, has not made any public statement regarding the split.
But during a recent interview for the December issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, Swift revealed that she would be unwilling to move backwards in a relationship.
"I can't deal with someone wanting to take a relationship backward or needing space or cheating on you," Swift said. She added that if she wasn't doing something to them, then it would be unfair for them to do it to her.
"It's a conscious thing; it's a common-sense thing. If I was in that situation, if I were them, would I be doing this to me? Would I ever do this to them?" Swift prompted. "If the answer is no, then they're not treating me fairly. I just don't ever want to end up in a relationship that isn't fair ever again."
Swift also added that she was not a fan of playing hard to get because it would lead to a lousy relationship in the end.
Speaking about the lyrics the resonate most with her right now, Swift pointed out one that she says describes her "philosophy" on love.
"'Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right,'" Swift said recalling a lyric from her new album, Red. "That's been my whole philosophy on love this whole time anyway."
