Taylor Swift Explains Friendship With 'Sister' Selena Gomez After Bieber Feud Rumors (VIDEO)
Taylor Swift recently opened up about her friendship with Selena Gomez following a series of feud rumors.
The "Red" singer, 24, and Gomez, 21, have been subject to feud rumors for several months however they debunked the rumors at the Met Gala in New York on May 5. In January reports claimed Swift and the "Come & Get It" singer fell out over Justin Bieber however they were filmed dancing together and having fun at the Met Gala recently which dispelled feud rumors.
Swift, who was rumored to be against Gomez's reconciliation with Bieber earlier this year, revealed that her friendship with Gomez is stronger than ever and she opened up about how fame ultimately helps them bond.
"It's been the longest [friendship] I think either of us had really," Swift told E! News.
"When your life changes and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is different from what other people think your life is. And your life is commented on and your life is written about and fictionalized and all that," she continued. "Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we've gone through."
In July last year Swift described the former Disney star as "the closest thing I've ever had to a sister" in a touching birthday tweet.
"Longevity is something you really can find very precious and rare in friendships," she explained.
Gomez and Bieber, who have dated on and off since 2011, reunited ahead of her stint in rehab earlier this year. At the time, sources claimed Swift did not approve and that she subsequently ended their friendship over him.
"Taylor hates him. She thinks Selena makes a mistake every time she reconciles with him," a source previously told Us magazine. "Bieber has really come between the girls."
In April Gomez and Bieber split again after a reported fight at Coachella which appears to have brought the actress closer to Swift.
