Taylor Swift New Song 'Shake It Off' Debuts No.1 on Hot 100, VMAs Performance Wows Fans
Taylor's Swift new hit single "Shake It Off" from her upcoming 1989 album debuted this week on the Hot 100 chart at the top spot, according to reports.
The newest anthem on "ignoring them haters" has already sold 544,000 copies within its first week of sale and was played more than 7 million times on iTunes. The track is the artist's second no. 1 single in the U.S. following 2012's Red album single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," Billboard.com reported.
With the sudden success of the song, it also catapulted the 24-year-old singer's name to the Billboard Artist 100 chart at no. 1.

Co-written by Max Martin and Shellback, the uptempo pop track was released under Big Machine Records. Factors that help put up the song into the spotlight include its immense sales, radio air play and streaming, as well as social media activity.
The music video, which featured Swift doing a variety of dance styles, was directed by Mark Romanek and premiered Monday last week simultaneously with her Yahoo! Live Stream session.
A rave of critical responses from numerous publications sprung out along with the song's success. Billboard's Jason Lipshutz wrote that "Shake It Off" is a great way for Swift to "prove why she belongs among pop's queen bees: As you may have guessed, the song sounds like a surefire hit."

Hollywoodlife put it as "truly unbelievable" and that Taylor "looked amazing [and] sparkly." Bustle described the whole set as "totally Gatsby-esque" as backup dancers dressed in tuxedos filled up the stage.
