Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars 'Safe and Sound' a Collaboration for 'The Hunger Games' (VIDEO)
Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars have released their new music video, "Safe and Sound," which is the first single from the "The Hunger Games" soundtrack.
The video includes shots of Taylor Swift walking through an abandoned wood and The Civil Wars playing the guitar by a log-burning fire inside an old country home.
There are also intermittent shots of Swift standing by a lake and sitting on a bed. At one point, the video shows a headshot of a deer slowly dissolving, until it disappears in the backdrop of the natural wood.

The Civil Wars are an indie-folk duo, consisting of Joy Williams and John Paul White from Nashville, Tennessee. Swift, 22, is a popular pop-country singer from Pennsylvania.
The two artist groups collaborated for the highly anticipated "The Hunger Games" soundtrack. "The Hunger Games," set to release in theaters March 23, 2012, is a science fiction thriller which involves 24 teenagers in a post-apocalyptic society battling in out to the death on a reality show for the entertainment of the masses.
The film is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling young adult novel, written by Suzanne Collins.
Some argue that in the "Safe and Sound" music video, Swift is supposed to resemble the main character of the film, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen. Others argue that the similarities are far-fetched, which may prove wise as the differences allow both the film and music video to maintain their individuality.
Comments on the music video, as featured on MSN, do not focus so much on the video's relation to the "The Hunger Games" film, but rather the collaboration of Swift and The Civil Wars.
Many consider this to be an awkward collaboration, as Swift is considered more main-stream pop and The Civil Wars are more independent.
The blog Victor's Village argues that the music video portrays heavy foreshadowing of "The Hunger Games" plot, with Swift representing Katniss, and the video implying the loss of the character Rue.
"This foreshadowing is way beyond the first book and it's more than we can staaaaaand! [sic]" Victor's Village writes.
Both Swift and The Civil Wars walked away with awards at this past Sunday's Grammy Awards show. The Civil Wars won the Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album awards, and Swift won Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song.
