Taylor Swift Visits Fan With Cancer
Taylor Swift paid a special visit to a sick fan in Nebraska over the weekend in an act of kindness.
Although the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer is preparing to kick off her worldwide tour, Swift showed up at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha on Saturday.
There, Swift met a fan- Lauren Hacker, who is receiving treatment for cancer at the hospital. The meeting was arranged through a campaign on social media, according to The Omaha World-Herald. Meeting Swift was a dream come true for the fifth grader at St. Margaret Mary School.
Swift's "Red" tour, named after her latest album, kicks off in Omaha on Wednesday. Hit songs "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Never Ever Getting Back Together" are both off of the singer's fourth album.
The country music star is not the first celebrity to fulfill a fan's wishes after petitioning took place on social media. Last year on Valentine's Day, Justin Bieber visited 6-year-old Avalanna Routh at her home in Boston.
The young fan suffered from an aggressive form of brain cancer, and had started a campaign on Facebook to fulfill her dream of meeting the "Boyfriend" singer, as well as her quest to pretend to "marry" him.
Routh's pretend marriage was reported by Boston's sports radio station WEEI. The young fans' parents, Aileen and Cameron Routh, also met Bieber as they decorated cup cakes, played board games, and signed autographs for one another.
Meanwhile, Swift's "Red" tour is slated to headline 58 shoes in 45 cities in 29 states and three provinces this year. It will run through September before going abroad.
"I didn't think I could be any more excited about my RED album, but then I start thinking about how I'm going to put the new show together for The RED Tour," said Swift on her website. "I have so many ideas about how to really bring this music to life, and I can't wait to share the new show with all my fans!"
