'Teen Mom 2' Renewed for Season 6: 'It Would Be Foolish to Stop Filming Now'
MTV's "Teen Mom 2" has reportedly lived to see another day. New reports state that the reality show has been renewed for a sixth season.
"Producers saw that ratings were so high," a source told Radar Online. "And now there's a whole new crop of drama: Jenelle's pregnant, and Leah and Jeremey are talking divorce. It would be foolish to stop filming now."
The current season has been filled with plenty of drama that viewers have come to expect: divorce, pregnancy (although planned this time), abortion, courtroom battles, and parenting conflicts. The show has continued to follow the lives of Leah Calvert, Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, and Kaylin Lowry as they navigate life with their children and families, which are growing.
Leah and Jeremy had marriage trouble due to his taking a job in New Mexico without talking to Leah first. She commented on more than one occasion that she felt like a single mother with three children and is underappreciated for all the hard work she does. Yet outside of the show, Leah has defended her marriage and said that the couple was just going through a tough time that happened to be captured on-film.
Jenelle and boyfriend Nathan Griffith purposely tried for a child and, in the latest episode, discovered their plan had worked and they were pregnant. She is now expecting her second child, a baby boy, this summer and plans to divorce her current husband.
Kailyn and Javi married this season and welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Lincoln. The couple had to deal with a great deal of family drama on both sides yet managed to pull off their dream wedding and welcome their child into the world.
Chelsea battled ex-boyfriend Adam for time with daughter Aubree and completed her time at beauty school. She also managed to get her first full-time job and enrolled Aubree in daycare. At the same time, Adam welcomed his second daughter with a new girlfriend.
"Teen Mom 2" currently airs Tuesday nights on MTV.
