'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood on Jenelle Evans: 'You Have One Child to Think About Before Having Another'
"Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood is busy rebuilding her life after dealing with addiction and has now offered co-star Jenelle Evans parenting advice since she, too, struggled with addiction. Portwood suggested that being in prison for some time could actually help Evans in the long run.
"As scary as it seems, it would change her life for the better," Portwood told In Touch. Portwood herself was just released from an 18-month stint in prison for drug abuse. During that time, she cleaned up and has been sober ever since. She also earned her GED while behind bars and participated in a mentoring program, which has led to her decision to try and open her own recovery center some time in the future.
"You have one child you need to think about before you have another," Portwood said about Evans' decision to have a child with boyfriend Nathan Griffith.
Evans does not have custody of her first child, Jace, who lives with Evan's mother, Barbara. She said that she had reportedly come to an agreement with Barbara that if she remains sober for a year, she could regain custody of her son. However, it will be hard for the young mother to raise two children and focus on her sobriety as well as work to provide for her children.
Portwood also expressed fears that Evans could relapse at any point, given that she only got sober when she learned she was pregnant.
"It's not like you can wake up one day and be like, 'Hey, I'm clean,'" she said.
It's been rumored that Evans is still using marijuana to combat the side effects of nausea and morning sickness.
"She told me that if she doesn't have weed she will throw up due to her pregnancy," a friend told Radar Online. "So, she always has a lot of weed on her at a time."
Evans has taken to Twitter to respond to Portwood.
"Amber Portwood… I never judged u or said one negative thing since u have been out of jail… Why start with me? Can't be happy I suppose," Evans poted.
