'Teen Mom' Jenelle Evans Faces Custody Battle
Jenelle Evans is working hard to improve her life and that of her son, Jace, but now may face a custody battle with the baby's father.
When Evans first announced her pregnancy on MTV's "16 and Pregnant," she was unsure who the father was. She listed boyfriend Andrew Lewis on baby Jace's birth certificate but admitted that his father could have also been Stephen Fullwood. Britain's Daily Mail has broken the news that Lewis is indeed the father and wants the right to spend time with his son.
According to a friend of Lewis, he has always wanted to be a part of Jace's life, though Evans refused to acknowledge he was the father.
"Andrew always knew he was Jace's father, but it's a huge relief to actually prove it to Jenelle and finally have rights to get Jace back in his life," a source told the Daily Mail.
"Andrew broke down in tears when he found out the news, and he cried when Jenelle finally let him see Jace via Skype for the first time in almost two years," said the source. Lewis was featured on Evans' episode of "16 and Pregnant" and was present for the birth of their son.
Yet she has been very reluctant to grant him visitation rights or allow any interaction with the child. Lewis works as a model in New York, but has moved closer to Evans to begin filming for "Teen Mom 2." Their situation will play out on the next season of the show.
"During Andrew and Jenelle's Skype call on Christmas Eve," said Lewis' friend, "Jace asked, 'Mama, who's that on the screen?' and Jenelle replied, 'Nobody important.' Andrew just lost it and broke down into tears; it was affirmation just how horrible of a mom Jenelle is."
Lewis, however, is not without fault. According to the Daily Mail, after leaving Evans, he found another girlfriend and is the father of a second son. Meanwhile, Evans has attended rehab and is currently working on getting certified as a medical assistant. She has seemingly turned her life around, but one wonders if this custody situation will deter all her good progress.
