'Tekken 7' Releasing on Consoles, PlayStation VR Support Announced
Fighting game franchise "Tekken 7" is going to be available soon to home consoles after its tremendous success in the Japanese arcades. According to VG 24/7, producer Katsuhiro Harada announced during Sony's Paris Games Week conference that the game will be released for PlayStation 4 soon. The game isn't console exclusive though so it is expected to come to Xbox One as well.
Along with the announcement was a new trailer showing fans how the game has greatly evolved over time, beginning from 'Tekken 1" in 1995 up to "Tekken 6" in 2009. It also teased about the storyline of the upcoming game which will revolve around the secrets of the Mishima clan and the never-ending struggle for power amongst the members.
Kazumi Mishima, a newcomer fighter, will go head to head with his father while an epic battle between a husband and wife is also expected to take place. "Tekken 7" will basically give the long-awaited conclusion of their story.
Hardcore Gamer cited that the game will come along with several modes and enhancements that will go beyond its arcade counterpart. And aside from Kazumi Mishima, other new fighter characters will also grace the new game including Claudio, Josie, Lucky Chloe, Gigas, Katarina and Shaheen. Publisher Bandai Namco also announced that the game will be released in North America, Latin America and Brazil for home systems.
And since the game is going west, IGN reported that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President and CEO Jim Ryan announced that "Tekken 7" will be having a 3D version as it will be coming to PlayStation VR. Further details have not been revealed yet so questions regarding it still remain unanswered.
One particular question is how it will work with VR since the fighting game is played in the third person and all games announced in PlayStation VR are played in the first person.
