'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution': Rage Attack Detailed in Latest Video
Bandai Namco has released a new video showcasing the Rage Attack mechanism of its upcoming fighting game "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution." The footage features all Rage Attacks from most of the game's roster.
As can be seen from the video below, characters have different Rage Attacks that can only be delivered when their health meter is below a certain point. Characters use Rage to power up their attacks, which typically include a huge launcher or bounce, a big wall splat, or a hard knockdown.
The mechanism works like a buff and provides players who are running to lose a match with opportunities to gain the upper hand or at least level the playing field once more. Through the Rage system, a character with low health will be able to inflict major damage to their opponents. It's easy to see how it can certainly be used to turn the tide in a match. In addition to inflicting some major damage, Rage Attacks can also be used to extend combos.
Characters who are in Rage Attack mode will emit a certain glow. Their health bar as well will glow red. Once the attack is over, their health bar returns to normal and the character goes back to delivering standard attacks.
The updated Rage system was introduced earlier in a separate video that also showcased Akuma's gameplay and the new default costumes of certain characters. Akuma is a crossover character from "Street Fighter," who is bringing the franchise's EX meter to "Tekken 7." Akuma isn't included in the Rage Attack video, and it's currently unknown if he will be able to take advantage of this mechanism as well.
Bandai Namco is currently conducting location tests in Japanese arcades. "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" will release in the Asian country this summer. The game is also expected to be playable in consoles, but the company has not announced the specific date yet.
