Temple Run 2 Mobile Game Gets 50 Million Downloads in 2 Weeks
Temple Run 2 has become one of the most popular mobile games ever as it has been downloaded over 50 million times in just 2 weeks.
Imangi, the company responsible for the wildly popular and addictive game, announced its benchmark earlier today and its co-founder Keith Shepherd expressed his excitement over the reception.
"Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us," he said. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."
Temple Run 2 is currently available for iOS, Android and Kindle devices. It was first released for two weeks ago followed by the Android roll out, which took place last week. The game took off at launch as Imangi announced 20 million downloads just four days after its release.
The game plays much like its predecessor, with some new additions, including the ability to swing from ropes and different landscapes. Instead of being in a swampy looking area like in the first Temple Run, the player now has to escape the grasp of a giant monkey in a temple that appears to be floating in the sky. The player can also jump into a cart and navigate their way through mines.
Temple Run 2 plays a bit smoother than the original version and features some new obstacles, including flowing rivers and areas where the ground just completely falls out from under you. And instead of being chased by a bunch of small monkey creatures, Temple Run 2 features one giant monkey creature looking to get you at every turn.
