4. ‘Dirty Dozen List’ names 12 companies profiting off sexual exploitation
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation released its annual Dirty Dozen List highlighting 12 major companies that profit off sexually exploitative practices. The companies included on this year’s Dirty Dozen List were: the social media app Discord, the online store Etsy, Google, the messaging app Kik, social media company Meta, Netflix, OnlyFans, Reddit, Twitter, domain registry service Verisign and noted credit card company Visa.
Kanakuk Camps, a Christian sports camp, also made the list. According to NCOSE’s Director of Corporate and Strategic Initiatives Lina Nealon, the companies profiled on the list are “fueling sexual exploitation through their business practices, policies and products.”
“Children and marginalized people, in particular, are being harmed at record numbers due to increased vulnerabilities created by the [coronavirus] pandemic — yet corporations continue watching profits skyrocket without prioritizing user protection and well-being,” she added. “We cannot allow this reality to go unchallenged, and our Dirty Dozen List advocates for crucial changes toward corporate social responsibility.”
