10 notable Christians who died in 2022
Leon Fontaine – Nov. 19, 2022
Canadian Pastor Leon Fontaine, who led the multisite megachurch Springs Church of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and gained recent attention for his opposition to COVID-19 lockdown orders, died at age 59 following a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Fontaine served as CEO of the Miracle Channel and hosted television programs such as “The Spirit Contemporary Life” and “The Leon Show,” and founded the United States-based ministry known as Spirit Contemporary International.
The Canadian branch of Kenneth Copeland Ministries was among those that gave their condolences, referring to Fontaine as “an incredible leader, communicator, and pastor who was a strong voice for the church in Canada.”
“He has served the Lord, his country and the church well, and we will miss him dearly. We rejoice with him as he has now entered into his eternal reward,” stated the ministry.
