The former athlete posted a tweet on April 7 containing video footage that shows protestors chanting “Trans rights are human rights” and swearing. Gaines wrote that she was “ambushed and physically hit twice by a man.”

In a separate tweet posted on the same day, the Independent Women’s Forum, Gaines’ employer, declared: “We strongly condemn the violence perpetrated against @iwf spokeswoman @Riley_Gaines on @SFSU campus.”

“Riley was violently accosted, ambushed, and physically assaulted during a speech on sex discrimination women face in their own single-sex sports category,” the group added.
