Teresa Giudice Defended By Kim D: 'She Has 4 Kids'

Kim DePaolo, a recurring member on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," is defending her friend and reality television show cast member Teresa Giudice amid an indictment scandal.

Teresa and her husband Joe Giudices are defending themselves against allegations that they received about $4.6 million in mortgages, home equity lines of credit and construction loans, according to USA Today reports. The Giudice's are being charged for making attempts to illegally obtain mortgages while withholding information about their income from their reality television show. U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman spoke about the indictment which took place Monday.

"The indictment returned today alleges the Giudices lied to the bankruptcy court, to the IRS and to a number of banks," Fishman told The Daily News. "Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when dealing with the courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or mortgages. That's reality."

However, DePaolo, known as "Kim D" on the reality television show, is defending her friend.

"Knowing Teresa as well as I know her, and I think I know her, I don't think she would ever willingly do any of this. She has four kids," Kim D said, according to PerezHilton.com reports. "I don't think she's capable of it. I think there's been a witch-hunt going on for a long time for her."

Mrs. Giudice's attorney, Henry Klingeman, let it be known that his client would proceed to plead not guilty for the charges brought against her.

"Teresa will plead 'not guilty,'" Klingeman said. "The judicial process that begins today with an indictment is a search for the truth. As it moves forward, we look forward to vindicating her."

The Associated Press reported that the Giudices were each released from a Newark, N.J. courtroom Tuesday on $500,000 bond but will not be allowed to leave the New York or New Jersey area. The Giudices are due to return to court Aug. 14 and have yet to officially enter their pleas.
