Terri Schiavo Supporters Hold Vigils, Petitions, Demonstrations
Supporters of Terri Schiavo planned dozens of protests around the world to pray and rally for her life as a Pinellas court judge determines whether to extend an emergency stay preventing the removal of her feeding tube, Friday.
The vigils began Thursday evening in front of the Woodside Hospice where Terri Schindler Schiavo lives. The hospice is the site of a 3-day prayer vigil that will end Sunday, planned out by avid supporters who closely followed her case over the past 7 years.
When Terris feeding tube was removed for 6 days in October, 2003, hundreds of supporters turned out across the nation to pray for her safety. On the seventh day, the Gov. Jeb Bush ordered the tube to be reinserted under Terris Law.
Meanwhile, at a media press conference today, the executive director of the Center for Reclaiming America will release the names of 100,000 people who have signed an online petition on behalf of Terri. Dr. Gary Cass will deliver the names on a petition, generated in just two days, that asks Gov. Jeb Bush to "to take immediate action to stop the forced starvation of Terri Schiavo."
