Tesla Model 3 Release Date Delay Rumors: Company's Track Record Points to a 2018 Launch

The topic of sustainable energy and "green" travel is swiftly turning up to be one hot discussion, which is where Tesla's electric cars are getting the publicity from. Despite promises that first models will be released in late 2017, the company's history when it comes to shipment proves otherwise, and that it could be later than that.

According to Goldman Sachs analyst David Tamberrino, he is making a bold yet sound prediction that Tesla's Model 3 might be facing delays, similar to other electric vehicles from the company in question, BGR has learned. He thinks that reservation holders won't get their hands on the highly anticipated car until 2018.

This prediction may not necessarily be farfetched as Tesla has had similar incidents in the past. It can be recalled that previous models did not meet the expected production date, and instead produced the desired cars several months after.

He's not alone in making this hunch. Yahoo Finance has since doubted that Tesla could deliver on time, pointing out the same argument. Moreover, in June 2015 the Model 3 was leaked to be planned for 2018, which the company quickly clarified as full production target.

These doubts, however, were quickly downplayed by former Tesla Supply Chain chief Peter Carlsson as he felt positive about the target date. "Things will get a bit easier. Tesla has resolved some issues through vertical integration — doing things internally. And with the launch of the Model 3, the volumes of the business will be more attractive, and I think we will see more suppliers relocate," Carlsson explains.

It can be recalled that CEO Elon Musk has expressed the seriousness of being on time while upholding the quality of work for the Model 3 that they canceled the deal with German automotive supplier SHW, Electrek has learned. Hopefully, Tesla follows through with their promise of delivering Model 3 within the year.
