Tesla Model X news: Backseat and 250-mile range revealed

As Tesla's Model X prepares for delivery next Tuesday, Sept. 29, some reports suggest that the company might be applying a number of tweaks for the crossover's final specs.

Green Car Reports says customers who are building their Model X Signature Series versions on the reservation page created online by Tesla are now seeing the EPA-estimated range at about 250 miles, 10 miles up from the record a few weeks ago.

With prices starting at $132,000, the Signature Series is currently the only version that is available for those who secured reservations. The vehicle comes with a 90-kWh battery, Tesla's amazing Autopilot system, an air suspension with GPS memory, and many more that customers will surely come to love.

Elon Musk says the Signature Series version is quoted with an offer of 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds when it is equipped with the Ludicrous Speed upgrade, which is tagged at $10,000. Musk also says the standard Model X costs about $5,000 more than the previous auto released by the company, the Model S.

Aside from the big step taken by the auto's range, Teslarati reports that new images of the Model X's backseats have been revealed. Tesla's build page shows the third-row seats in all its glory with the a fold-down feature. In one image, the rear is seen packed with boxes and another photo shows a bicycle in the back.

It is still unclear if the second row is collapsible, but the images show that the chairs could be in an upright position and can be adjusted forward.

The Model X is a falcon-winged auto that was first seen as a mere concept at the 2013 Detroit show and is now looking toward a total delivery of 55,000 units this year, once the model launches by the end of the month.

During the first half of this year, the Californian electric vehicle maker delivered 11,507 Model S units and come the second quarter, there were 21,551 units recorded to be out.
