Texas Warrant Roundup Commences Saturday

Saturday marks the sixth annual Texas warrant roundup, meaning a lot of people with unpaid traffic tickets will be sitting in fear as Dallas City Marshals begin making arrests at homes and businesses.

The clamp-down began at 6 a.m. Saturday morning and focuses on chasing up outstanding warrants.

The roundup primarily targets Class C misdemeanors, however, in past years that has meant most offenders have been chased up for unpaid traffic tickets.

Dallas attorney Brad Friedman has explained, "A lot of them affirmatively just blew it off and now have forgotten that they blew it off or they got the ticket, put it in the drawer."

He added, "A lot of the cities give you 21 days to respond to the ticket, and they just failed to do so and forgot about it."

Law firms are busy during this period, as people fearful of the roundup quickly seek legal advice, as they are scared of law enforcement officials showing up at their place of work or at their homes.

Those being caught by the Texas warrant roundup could face arrest and possible imprisonment. In addition, anyone in the City of Texas could have a block placed on their vehicle registration renewal application.
