Teyana Taylor Dropped From Adidas After Rihanna Feud, Singer Responds
Teyana Taylor the 22-year-old singer, may have lost her deal with Adidas sports apparell after a public feud with fellow singer Rihanna.
While Taylor was working with Adidas to create a sneaker called the Harlem GLC: Dark Knight, the brand released a statement confirming that it would not be produced for the masses.
"We have ended our relationship with Teyana Taylor and do not have any upcoming product launches with her," a representative from Adidas told the blog Madame Noire. "All I can say is that adidas partners with athletes and artists who blend well with our brand values. We evaluate our relationships with partners based on the values we hold at adidas and we don't condone violence of any kind."
Taylor decided to respond to the news on her Twitter account.
"Hey haters, imma let yall finish but I had the fastest sellin adidas of all time. #HandsMicBack&WalksOffStage #Kanyeshrug #ImSleepTho (SIC)," Taylor tweeted. "And that's my statement you guys have a nice day!!!!! & I did it without a album. #MeekVoice."
Although Adidas has yet to confirm or deny whether Taylor was dropped from the brand because of her feud with Rihanna, numerous publications like MTV believe that it could be a factor. Earlier this year, Rihanna posted an Instagram video of her stylist Yusef Williams singing Anita Baker's "Caught Up In The Rapture" in a curly wig after Taylor initially posted a video of herself singing the same song with her well known curly mane.
Taylor lashed out at Rihanna and her best friend Melissa Forde on Twitter and both responded causing a feud to play out on the social networking website where Rihanna and Taylor became trending topics.
The decision to part ways with Taylor came around the time of a similar announcement to team up with the singer's G.O.O.D. Music label head Kanye West.
"For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West," Adidas representatives said in a statement, according to Hip Hollywood reports. "Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in streetwear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow."
