Thanksgiving Online Shopping: Black Friday Starts Now at These Retailers

Black Friday, renowned for sparking huge in-store sales the day after Thanksgiving, may soon be coming to a demise, with online sales starting earlier and promising no crowds.

Online retailers have already established Cyber Monday in an effort to compete with in-store Black Friday sales. However according to reports, over 50 percent of Americans have already started their holiday shopping, prompting some stores to get an early start too. Like many did last year, a number of stores will begin Black Friday sales on Thursday night, before Thanksgiving is even over. But what's more, some stores will be offering the same deals online.

Toys R' Us, Sears, K-Mart and Wal-Mart will all open at 8 p.m. on Thursday night for shoppers to get an early edge. Target also announced that it would be opening its doors at 9 p.m.

"You can have your dinner, then come to our store. We all know that everybody gets burned out on turkey and football," Troy Rice, chief of store operations at Toys R' Us told USA Today.

Although early openings will also mean that some employees may not get much of a Thanksgiving meal with their families at all.

Stores like Macys don't appear to be waiting at all. The store is offering many sales including 20-50 percent off items throughout its online site. The site says that the offers will be available in stores on Friday, but are available now online. The store, like many others, is also offering free shipping in addition to another 15 percent off for customers who spend over $99.

Kohl's is also beginning its online sale Wednesday. The sale will run through Friday at 3 p.m. In store sales will not begin until midnight on Thursday, although hours could vary by location. JC Penny will also start early online sales all day on Thanksgiving Day, although the store will not open until 6 a.m.
