'The 100' Season 4 Spoilers: Comic-Con 2016 Trailer Reveals Catastrophic Radioactive Fallout and Earth Striking Back

The creator and writers of "The 100" made fans wonder what the next season would be as a teaser trailer was released at the recently concluded Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego.

Jason Rothenberg was at the event and he told fans that the new season would be about Clarke and the other survivors having more than their enemies to deal with. They have to worry about a bigger foe: the earth itself.

The teaser was part of an unfinished work for Season 4. The viewers saw Grounder City being enveloped by a cloud of radioactive dust, and Clarke could be heard narrating, "So we ask ourselves when all is lost, can hope survive? Can we survive? And after everything we've done, do we deserve to?"

How to Stop the Earth?

Variety also had a chance to interview Rothenberg. In the interview, he elaborated on what he revealed at the Comic-Con event. "The earth strikes back in season 4, it is an unbeatable foe," he said. "It quickly becomes about not how to stop it, because stopping it is not possible, but how do we survive? There aren't enough lifeboats so who gets to choose who lives?"

Lexa's Return?

One of the most sensational things that happened in Season 3 was the death of Lexa. Killing Lexa in the show caused an uproar from the LGBTQ community since she was Clarke's love interest. Rothenberg confirmed that Lexa's death is permanent. She is not coming back but it is clear her character will forever inspire other characters in the series.

On the other hand, Eliza Taylor, who plays Clarke, hopes that her character would be given ample time to grieve for Lexa. But the writers and creator of the series may have more things for Clarke's plate as she has to build more courage and become more confident since she has to lead the others to safety and ultimately to their survival. Clark has to own this power, and at the end, she will finally be recognized as someone very special in her group.

Premier Date for Season 4

CW confirmed that Season 4 will air on Jan. 21, 2017. More revelations and spoilers will surely be revealed as the air date of the fourth season nears.
