'The Affair' Season 2 Spoilers – Alison Doubts Noah's Family Claims, Why Is Cole's Family Cursed?
The upcoming episode of "The Affair" has Noah explaining to a pregnant Alison that his novel is a work of fiction. Is it Noah's baby? Meanwhile, Cole's family is in turmoil as his mother says they are a cursed family. Does Cherry Lockhart have a "deep, dark secret" that she is not revealing to her sons, Cole & Scotty?
In the previous episode, Noah gives in to his publisher's demand and makes the ending of the novel very shocking. At the end of the novel, the hero murders his sex-crazed girlfriend to free himself from her clutches.
Viewers will recall that the relationship that Noah had written about in his book, "Descent," was based totally on the relationship between him and Alison. Alison had gotten very angry with Noah for writing about their affair with such graphic detail, especially the parts about their physical intimacy. Now she is very angry with the way Noah has written the ending.

One of the promos released by Showtime shows Noah explaining to a resigned Alison that the book is just a work of fiction and is not about them. Alison is not assured about this and remains sceptical. Noah presses on about the book when Alison questions him if he wants the baby.
Noah is surprised and says yes. At this point, Alison asks him if the three will be a family. Noah assures her of this too. The final shot has Alison caressing his head in her lap, but not convinced by what Noah has told her.
The other promo shows Cole and his family at the dinner table. There is an argument between Cole and Scotty when their mother intervenes and says their family is cursed. She names some of the things that have brought misfortune to their family and one thing that upsets Cole is the mention of his son's death.
He tells his mother to stop when Cherry goes on that no Lockhart will now be born into the family and explains that the death of Cole and Alison's son Gabriel was solely due to this family curse.
Both the promos point at tense drama in the coming episode.
