'The Affair' Season 2 Episode 8 Spoilers – Can Noah Overcome His Demons?
In the upcoming Episode 8 of Season 2 of "The Affair," Noah is going down a steep descent as his book sales rise. After the success of his book, women are throwing themselves at him. Will Noah resist, especially his beautiful publicist, Eden?
Noah Solloway, played by Dominic West, by all rights, should be in a secure place and a contented man. The promos of the upcoming episode 8 show just the opposite.
Showtime has released two promos. One is titled, "Drunk on the Power" and aptly sums up Noah's state of mind.

One of the critics has trashed Noah's novel, "Descent," by saying that it is porn by another name. This has raised Noah's hackles. He spies the man in a bar where he and Helen are drinking beer. Noah is quite drunk. He gets up and goes towards this critic where they have a war of words and Noah asks him how he dared to trash his novel when he hasn't written a single one himself. In a moment of drunken bravado, Noah swings a punch at this critic, misses, and falls down with the whole bar in an uproar.
The synopsis given by Showtime is very brief and simply says, "Helen is bewildered by Whitney's plans. Noah's fame escalates temptation."
This would suggest that Whitney, Noah and Helen's teenage daughter, has become a major problem and Noah and Helen must have gotten together to discuss their daughter when Noah also starts behaving boorishly, much to Helen's annoyance. In the promo, Helen reprimands Noah over his behaviour and tells him that he is acting just like her father to which Noah is highly amused.
Other scenes show Noah signing his novel for a female fan who flirts with him and leaves her number on the table. But it is Helen, amused by this, who tells Noah to be very careful.
This is a very interesting dynamic between Noah and Helen, who have had a lot of good times and bad times together as husband and wife and now seem to have left all the bitterness behind and might come together because of their children. But before this, Noah will have to deal with his rising fame, his attraction for his beautiful publicist, Eden, who is making no pretense that she is attracted to Noah, and he will have to control his drinking. Will all of this lead to Noah's descent?
