'The Affair' season 2 news and spoilers - more complications as spouses arrive
The upcoming Season 2 of "The Affair" will see more problems arise in the illicit relationship between Noah Solloway (Dominic West) and Alison Bailey (Ruth Wilson) as their legal spouses arrive on the scene. Season 1 of the Showtime series "The Affair" had ended with Noah's arrest just as they were about to begin their new life together. Season 2 is expected to have a short time jump and starts just three months from where Season 1 had ended.
According to Christian Today, Season 2 will now show more of Cole (Joshua Jackson) and Helen (Maura Tierney) expressing their views. Viewers will now see things from their perspective as well. The new season will continue to focus on Noah and Alison, but Cole and Helen will start making more appearances as the after-effects of the affair start unfolding.
Helen begins to see faults in her husband. She is disillusioned by him and even gets into an argument with her mother Margaret (Kathleen Chalfant). Helen confesses to being still in love with her husband, but feels that he is unworthy of her trust and devotion.
Meanwhile, Cole is still hopeful about Alison and is ready to do anything to get her back. The new season will see Cole competing with Noah in order to convince her to give the relationship another shot. But Cole might also have other things on his mind and appears to be seeking revenge for the way she has treated him.
Speaking to Wall Street Journal, Wilson shared with fans that Noah would be forced to deal with his arrest in Season 2 that had been left unresolved in the finale of Season 1. This - along with Alison's grief from her son's death - will have an effect on their relationship.
"The first season's question of who killed Scott Lockhart will continue to put a damper on everyone's lives. The mystery becomes the driving force of the show," said Wilson.
Season 2 of "The Affair" will be aired on Showtime at Sunday, Oct. 4, at 10 p.m. EST.
