'The Bachelor' Contestant Reveals Virginity; Bachelor Says It's Not a Deal-Breaker
During Monday night's "Bachelor," one contestant made a shocking revelation—that she was a virgin and intended to remain so until marriage.
Becca Tilley, 26, decided to make her revelation known during an overnight date with bachelor Chris Soules. The two could have entered the fantasy suite, which viewers know is code for having an intimate evening together.
"It's time to get to know each other on a whole different level," Soules said before they could head into the suite.
"I do have something very important to share with you, and I want you to be very honest with your feelings about it," Tilley said. "It's a big part of who I am … after having such an amazing time with you, I have been a little bit nervous to bring it up because it's a big deal. I am a virgin."
The bachelor decidedly took things as one may expect, with a bit of surprise, but he didn't let that deter him from pursuing a relationship with Tilley. The two did enter the fantasy suite, but the last that viewers saw, the couple was simply kissing.
"I'm 100 percent in," Tilley said. "I'm all in. I'm excited to see what happens."
As for Soules, he revealed his true feelings the following day on a blog written for People magazine. He said that while he wasn't surprised, he respected her decision.
"Becca was always conservative when it came to affection," he wrote. "She was the last girl I kissed, and we really waited for the perfect moment. There is no question that being a virgin is a personal choice Becca made, and I respect her for making that choice. Obviously sex is an important part of a relationship, and I'm not a virgin. Waiting until marriage was never part of my plan. But that doesn't mean that my future wife has to share that philosophy. Becca being a virgin was simply not a deal-breaker for me."
