'The Banner Saga 2' Update: Release Date Delayed, Expected First Quarter of 2016
Fans who have been waiting for "The Banner Saga 2" will have to go through the agony of continuing to wait for it as reports indicate the game will not coming anytime soon this year.
According to Eurogamer, the sequel of the tactical role-playing game will arrive during the first quarter of 2016. Publisher Versus Evil announced the game back in 2015 with a late 2015 release date but as it appears, it is not going to make that release date with barely 2 months left before the New Year.
PC Gamer noted that the reason for the delay has not been revealed to the fans. But developer Stoic updated everyone via Facebook that the game is not in trouble and, in fact, things are going and progressing well.
"Banner Saga 2's development is progressing nicely. Customers who have attended Gamescom and PAX have seen its progress," the studio wrote. "We will update everyone on its launch date when the timing is right."
It will be made available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The team behind the game did not disclose yet if the sequel will arrive to all platforms simultaneously or on different dates. But as detailed by PlayStation Lifestyle, "the console ports of the 'Banner Saga' are in full affect." They are now currently finishing development for the first game and working on console specific controls so that the title will perform as a console game and not just merely as a port.
There's a lot to look forward to with the sequel especially with the new additions. RPG Fan noted that "The Banner Saga 2" will pick up with the hero's caravan right where it left off. They will be moving south from the infringing Dredge horde. As they travel through, the caravan will encounter new creatures and challenges, including the mysterious horseborn. Stoic described the new character of the game as another race made by a god who "cross-wove two of the Loom-mother's creations."
