The Beatles Now iPad App Thanks to Rolling Stone
Rolling Stone has unveiled a new app all about the Beatles to accompany any of the group's music that a user may have on iTunes.
The app, "The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide," was just released on the iPad and will feature all 13 of the group's albums.
Once selecting a song, a user will be given a testimonial and bio on the song as well as many audio clips, and pictures. These features are exclusive to the iPad.
The new app is a tablet friendly guide to the Beatles entire music catalog. Rolling Stone developed the app using vjoon K4 and an integrated Adobe Digital Publishing Suite as a digital and production-publishing tool.
Wenner Media, the company that publishes Rolling Stone, has used vjoon K4, since 2008, to manage all aspects of the project.
"With vjoon K4 we were able to implement a workflow that really highlights our traditional design and editorial strengths, but also helps us enhance that content by adapting it to a new platform," Wenner Media administrator Paul Leung said in a press release by vjoon GmbH.
"MEI worked closely with us to make sure the app captured all the great information from our print product and expanded it with immersive and visually appealing tablet features," said Paul Leung. "Their expertise and custom development were integral to the success of this project."
MEI helped build the app with Adobe DPS and customized it to better serve the editorial workflow, development, template creation, and construction before submitting to Apple.
"We expect this app to be a huge hit, and we're excited that vjoon K4 played a part in its creation," said Andreas Schrader, CEO at vjoon. "During the production process the profound, substantiated and long-term integration of vjoon K4 with Adobe DPS paid off. It facilitated the production process very much."
"The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide" can be downloaded from the iTunes store.
