'The BFG' News: Steven Spielberg Movie Gets a First Trailer

Award-winning director Steven Spielberg is at it again as his movie adaptation of Roald Dahl's "The BFG" finally received its first trailer.

The adaptation has been globally acclaimed even if it has not been released yet, and with the trailer finally out showing a first glimpse of the "big friendly giant," the excitement has only become more intense.

Spielberg teamed up with Melissa Mathison for the script, and while the latter has passed away earlier last month, many believe that she was able to complete the script that would give life to "BFG." Mathison was also Spielberg's scriptwriter for box office hit "E.T., The Extra-Terrestial."

The movie tells the story of a young girl who lives in an orphanage in London. Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) meets the "BFG" or Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance) after she is brought to Giant Country.

The BFG is 24-feet tall and is gentle, unlike the other giants inhabiting the land who are either hot-tempered, easily agitated, and human eaters. Sophie will also see Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement), who are twice the size of the BFG and are known to be lovers of flesh.

When Sophie first steps foot on Giant Country, she gets scared, especially after seeing the giant who stole her from her home at the orphanage. While she initially sees the giant as a scary creature, she later learns that he is gentle and sweet.

The 10-year-old London girl starts to ask questions and learns a lot of things about how giants live and what they want. She learns that the BFG scorns human flesh and prefers to consume Snozzcumber and Frobscottle.

The conflict begins when the rest of the giants learn that a human has entered their land. The BFG then takes Sophie back to London and the tag team will try to warn Queen Victoria (Penelope Wilton) of the possible threat that the giants can pose.

"The BFG" is expected to hit theaters on July 1, 2016.
