The 'Bible' Miniseries: Christians Gear Up for Episode 2 (PREVIEW)
The History Channel's "Bible" series swept Sunday night television and Christians everywhere are preparing for the second installment this weekend.
This Sunday, viewers can tune into the action-filled journeys of Sampson, Saul, and David. Watch a sneak peak of episode 2 of the series here.
Created by Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey, the 10-part series reveals stories taken directly from the Bible. The epic offers in-depth looks at some of the most important characters in Christianity. Noah's Ark, the Exodus, Abraham, and the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are among the Bible stories covered in the highly anticipated television series.
Moreover, the series will bridge the Old Testament with the New Testament, or as Burnett said, "from Genesis to Revelation."
"Survivor" creator and television mogul Burnett married Downey in 2007- who is best known for her role on the television series "Touched By An Angel." The couple conceived the idea for the "Bible" series based on Scripture three years ago.
Hans Zimmer who has worked on music for films such as "The Dark Knight Rises" provided the musical score for the "Bible," while researchers and theologians were consulted on every part of the script.
Last Sunday marked the number one cable television event of the year as 14.8 million viewers tuned into the premiere of the "Bible" series.
"We know God moved last night," Downey said in a statement following the successful premiere. "People of all denominations showed the power that can be unleashed in our culture when we band together, individual believers with a shared purpose and vision. The world is won when the church is one."
Episode two of the "Bible" will air on The History Channel Sunday at 8 p.m. EST. Remaining episodes of the series will air each Sunday with the finale arriving on Easter Sunday, March 31.
