'The Big Bang Theory' Season 11 Spoilers: Sheldon Reunites With Ghost Hero

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is set to meet his childhood hero, Arthur Jeffries (Bob Newhart), again in the current season of "The Big Bang Theory."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Newhart will return to reprise his role as Professor Proton in one of the upcoming episodes of the new installment. He is Sheldon's inspiration who previously appeared as a ghost to help him out during tough times. The last time he was seen was in season 11 when he returned as a Jedi apparition. Proton is expected to resurface as a ghost again during Sheldon's time of need and the episode is slated to air on Nov. 2. Aside from Newhart, Wil Wheaton will also be part of the episode as Sheldon's on-and-off nemesis.

Meanwhile, executive producer Steve Holland assured Variety that Sheldon and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) wedding will definitely happen but it might not take place in season 11. He promised, though, that a big part of the installment would dwell on the couple planning the event. The EP also said that they have yet to plan the season's finale, hence anything could still happen. As to when Sheldon will tell his girlfriend about the kiss he shared with Ramona (Riki Lindhome), Holland said that could be soon. Viewers can expect Amy to get upset about it, and this may be the reason why she will not say yes to his proposal immediately.

"As we were breaking that episode, we talked about if there was a possibility where he tells her about the kiss and that makes her hold off on saying yes," Holland said. He adds that Amy is "so in love with Sheldon" so "this is the thing that she has wanted for so long."

"The Big Bang Theory" season 11 currently airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS. It is set to return to its Thursday timeslot on Nov. 2.
