Big Bang Theory Season 8: Penny Gets New Career and New Look, Leonard and Amy Go on Road Trip

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 8 premiere is fast approaching, and fans are already excited to be reunited with Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, and the rest of the gang. So what's in store for them this season?

Those who have diligently tracked the news about the cast members know for a fact that Kaley Cuoco now has a new, shorter hairstyle that is radically different from her flowing locks as seen in the previous seasons. Cartermatt confirmed that her change of hairstyle will be incorporated into the season premiere of the show, and that Penny will get a haircut from one of the boys.

Perhaps her new look is in keeping with her choice to change her career. The first episode, entitled "The Locomotion Interruption," will see Penny making a major life change as she decides to quit her acting career and become a pharmaceutical rep for Bernadette's company.

The episode title also alludes to the fact that Amy and Leonard will go an unscheduled road trip to pick up Sheldon. With regards to Sheldon, things are not going so well for him on his cross country road trip on a train.

"His belongings have been stolen and he needs Leonard to pick him up in Arizona. Amy's not pissed at him for leaving, but she's certainly not thrilled that when he ran into trouble, he called Leonard instead of her," a synopsis of the episode read.

CBS released the episode's logline: "Leonard and Amy take an unexpected road trip to Arizona to pick up Sheldon. Meanwhile, Penny interviews for a job at Bernadette's company, and Howard is weirded out by Stuart's relationship with Mrs. Wolowitz."

According to Moviepilot, the new season picks up 45 days after the last episode of season 7.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 8 will premiere on Sept. 22 on CBS.
