The Blacklist News: EP Discusses Liz's Fake Death
The most recent reveal of "The Blacklist" left fans shocked as it brough a character 'back' from the dead.
A past episode of the series showed the death of Liz, played by Megan Boone, leaving fans heartbroken. Viewers were following the intriguing friendship of Liz and Red, played by James Spader, which made her death dramatic. However, the latest episode revealed that Liz was not dead all along, as it showed that she merely faked her death.
Many fans thought that she was actually dead since it was reported that Boone was pregnant in real life. Meanwhile, the executive producer of the series Jon Koenkamp and John Eisendrath shared their sentiments on the fake death. They explained that they felt the need to acknowledge the pregnancy of Boone and connect it to the story.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bokenkamp said, "When we [found out] Megan was pregnant, it felt like something we couldn't ignore in a show that's all about the nature of identity. Elizabeth Keen was adopted, doesn't know where she comes from, and in a show that is so steep in that conversation, how do we ignore the fact that our lead actress is pregnant? As a natural progression from that, it seemed like Liz would want to protect her child from Reddington."
They also spoke about the fan's reaction to the storyline. They said that they were expecting a range of emotions from the fans. Bokenkamp also said, "People felt it would be a very sad and unfortunate turn of events because [Red and Liz's] relationship is so important to the show. That was nice to see. It feels very organic to the story we're telling, so if it were just a trick then, yeah, I could see how that would be a rip-off, but I think this is anything but that. I think this is a very organic story we're telling, and it feels like something that her character would really do."
"The Blacklist" is expected to return on NBC this fall.
