'The Blacklist' Season 2 Cast Spoilers: Full 22-Episodes Ordered, Mary Louise Parker to Join
James Spader's performance as Red Reddington on the first season of "The Blacklist" has been highly lauded by critics, and according to Screenrant.com, the show is currently standing as the best-rated new broadcast this season. It's no surprise then that NBC has decided to give the show a full 22-episode order for its second season.
"The success of 'The Blacklist' demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and I'm impressed on a daily basis by this creative team's imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film," said NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt.
"The Blacklist" main character is Red Reddington, a former government agent and one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives. He surrenders to the FBI, but makes them an offer that they cannot refuse: he will agree to help them capture terrorists, on the one condition that he will only cooperate with Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), a rookie FBI profiler. The series juggles two narratives— the stories dealing with the FBI's pursuit of the persons on Reddington's Blacklist, and the main character's personal agenda and his interest in Keen.
At Comic-con, it has been confirmed that Mary Louis Parker will be joining the show in its second season as recurring character Naomi Hyland, a person who is said to have ties to Reddington. Mozhan Marno will also be in the show as a series regular, and he has been cast as Tamar Katzman, a spy who goes head to head with Reddington.
EW has also confirmed that Krysten Ritter will guest star in the second season opener of the show. According to TV Fanatic, Ritter will be playing the role of Rowan Mills, a "troubled analyst at a data security firm."
"The Blacklist" Season 2 will air on Sept. 22 on NBC.
