'The Blacklist' Season 3 News: Trailer Shows Bloodied Red Firing Shotgun

NBC recently released its trailer for the third season of "The Blacklist" showing Red Reddington with blood running down his head and firing a shotgun at enemies.

With "The Blacklist" readying for its Season 3 premiere next month, NBC has been prepping audiences with the release of a promo trailer titled "It's Good to be Wanted."

Gunmen surprise Red (James Spader) as he is exiting his car and a gunfight ensues between the "worst criminal of all." The next clip shows the former US Navy officer turned most wanted criminal in a bloodstained warehouse making short work of enemies with a 12-gauge, all while bleeding from a head injury.

The trailer points out that Reddington has just been replaced from the top of the high-profile criminal list by Elizabeth Keene (Megan Boone) herself. Red and FBI rookie Elizabeth (Megan Boone) are now on the run, with Liz dyeing her hair blonde to disguise herself, and realizing she now looks like her mother.

A lighter-haired Liz is likely to lead Season 3 with the revelation of her origins. Season 2 only hinted at her mother, Masha Rostova's identity, who audiences find out is really ex-KGB operative, Katarina Rostova, and who happens to have a past linked to Red somehow.

While it is still not clear whether Rostova is dead or alive, there may be a chance she will make an appearance in the coming season, and may finally answer the lingering question about her relationship with Red, and whether Red really is Liz's father.

Season 3 is set to continue where Season 2 left off, with both Red and Liz fleeing from authorities who want to arrest Liz for Tom Connolly's (Reed Birney) murder, even if Connolly was working for The Cabal, and they had evidence against him.

Audiences will also get to meet the mysterious "cleaner" hired by the Cabal, Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi), who will be making his first appearance in Season 3 as "a monster in gentleman's clothing."

"The Blacklist" is returning to NBC on October 1 at 9PM EST.
