'The Blacklist' Season 5 Episode 2 Spoilers: Red Discovers a Clue on Suitcase's Location

Tom (Ryan Eggold) is in big trouble in the upcoming episode of "The Blacklist." Has Red (James Spader) found out that he was the one who stole the suitcase?

In the episode titled "Greyson Blaise," the promo revealed that Red has got valuable information on the location of the lost valise. In the clip, he was shown pointing his gun at the head of a kneeling man. Red was asking the other about the identity of the thief. Unbeknownst to him, Tom was hiding somewhere in the room, listening to the interrogation. He knows that if Red finds him, he is as good as dead.

It was Tom who got the suitcase out of the farm on Mr. Kaplan's (Susan Blommaert) orders. He was supposed to deliver it directly to Liz (Megan Boone), but he did not fulfill his promise. It was also revealed that he already knew about the contents of the valise but was not quite sure what to make out of it. The suitcase contained human bones, with the identity of their owner still a mystery. Before he gives the bag to Liz, he must make sure first that it will not cause her more sorrow.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Eggold said that his character would take it upon himself to investigate the truth about the suitcase. Tom knows that Red is not being completely honest to Liz and he wants to know why. As far as he is concerned, his wife will be better off without her alleged father.

"[Tom] becomes obsessed with figuring out who this is and why he was tasked with figuring that out," Eggold said. "He's chasing down different leads with the understanding that it affects Liz in a very big way. Now that we know Red is Liz's father, he's trying to deal with that, but I don't think he trusts Red and never has."

"The Blacklist" season 5 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
