'The Blacklist' Season 5 Episode 5 Spoilers: Liz Attends a Friend's Funeral
Someone important to Liz (Megan Boone) will die in the upcoming episode of "The Blacklist."
In the episode titled "llyas Surkov," the promo shows Liz, Tom (Ryan Eggold) and Red (James Spader) attending a funeral. Liz's bereaved expression indicates that whoever is inside that casket is a friend of hers. Tom is also shown embracing his wife, trying to lend her some of his strength and assuring her that everything will be all right. While no other clues are revealed about the identity of the deceased, Liz only has a handful of people close to her. Sooner or later, fans will be able to point out who died and how it happened.
Meanwhile, the synopsis reveals that Red will inadvertently put his daughter in danger. When he provides an exclusive intel on an international terrorist, he has no way of knowing that he is starting a messy face-off between the CIA and the FBI. A rival unit in Langley will be shadowing the Task Force, waiting for the opportune time to nab the blacklister and deprive the FBI of a successful operation. The standoff is expected to be tense. This may even lead to one of the task force members dying.

Elsewhere, Red will team up with Hawkins (guest star Aida Turturro) in a new business venture. Liz's old man can only hope that things will work out right and that he can finally bring his empire back to its former glory. As for Tom, he will reportedly go undercover to get more information.
In the last episode, Tom was sure that he was close to identifying the identity of the bones' owner. He got Nik (Piter Marek) to dig for answers for him. Unfortunately, Nik was shown being murdered in the episode's last minutes.
