'The Blacklist' Spoilers: Did Liz Really Die?

American crime thriller television series "The Blacklist" shocked fans with its season 3 episode 18 when it killed off one of its major characters. According to a spoiler report by International Business Times, Liz Keen (Megan Boone) died of injuries due to a car accident. It was also after she gave birth to her baby daughter with husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold).

While the doctors did everything they can to save Liz in a makeshift facility, the previous episode ended up with Liz dead. Now fans are greatly wondering if her death is real this time as there was a time when Reddington (James Spader) faked out her death. But in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spader revealed his thoughts on the episode.

"I think it's most prudent not only as just myself and what I know or don't know for that, but also in terms of the character of Reddington: Elizabeth Keen is dead," stated Spader.

When asked when he learned about the plot, Spader divulged that he had known for some time already as he has been talking with producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath. He said that they have been talking about the direction of the series and it's something that fans should watch out for. TVLine noted that NBC did not make any comment about the death of Liz or the departure of Boone from the series but Eggold did share his thoughts. "I was as shocked as I think the fans are! I have loved working with Megan, especially as we explored the complicated dynamic in Liz and Tom's relationship," said Eggold.

Apparently, Boone is pregnant in real life. Her demise in the show may have been created in order for her to take her real-life maternity leave. At this point, it's still too early to know what will really happen in the show. But in season 3 episode 19, it will show the aftermath of Liz's death. Tom, Red and the rest of the group will try to move on.
