The Bridge Season 3 Release Date? Renewed or Canceled?
With the season 2 finale of "The Bridge" airing in a few hours, fans are wondering whether the show will be renewed for a third season, as the crime drama from FX has proven to be a breath of fresh air amidst all the other crime shows airing today.
The season premiere, "Yankee," garnered 1.50 million viewers for FX. Ratings dropped a bit towards the middle of the season, but went up again to a solid 1.03 million by last week's episode, "Quetzalcoatl." The show has also gotten a lot of positive critical response, with The Hollywood Reporter's Tim Goodman calling it, "mandatory viewing for drama lovers."
"It will be interesting to see where the writers take it and whether they have the big-league ability to make the evident potential materialize," wrote Goodman. "One thing they've hopefully learned is that sometimes holding back information isn't mysterious, it's just confusing."
"The Bridge" is based on the Danish/Swedish series "Bron" which was set on the border of Denmark and Sweden. The setting of "The Bridge" is on the border of El Paso and Juarez. The story centers on two detectives— one from the US, Detective Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) and one from Mexico, Detective Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir) — who must work together to look for a serial killer operating on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. Detective Cross is a member of the El Paso Police Department and has Asperger syndrome.
The cast is comprised of Ted Levine as Lt. Hank Wade, Annabeth Gish as Charlotte Millwright, Thomas M. Wright as Steven Linder, Matthew Lillard as Daniel Frye, and Emily Rios as Adriana Mendez.
For now, FX has yet to cancel or renew "The Bridge" for a third season. According to Seriable.com, Kruger believes that the show has "10 seasons worth of story," while Franka Potente, who played recurring character Eleanor Nacht said that she is hoping to be back for the third season.
Watch the season 2 finale of "The Bridge" on Oct. 1 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
