Isn't it incredible to see the technology that is available today to deliver God's living water straight into our hearts from a worship service that took place days earlier and many miles away? I would never encourage someone to make the television or computer their sole "church experience." We all need fellowship and participation in a local church.
But we live in a day where we desperately need Spirit-filled worship more than just one day a week. And for that reason, I encourage you to lift up your heart in worship with the precious saints in Brooklyn via their webcast. Don't do it in place of attending a local church. Do it in addition to your local fellowship. That is, if you find it to bless your soul the way it is now blessing so many others around the country and around the world.
Or find another church and ministry online that feeds your soul with God's Word and lifts your spirit in praise to the Lord. One hour or so a week is not nearly enough to keep your heart filled with praise, worship, and biblical teaching. Again, make your local church your first priority. Take advantage of everything offered there to help you grow and worship. And then discover other music and biblical ministries online that can help keep you full of living water throughout the week.
It is getting tougher and tougher for Christians in America to remain strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Our minds get bombarded with so many other things, but what we need most is living water. Only that will refresh our soul. Nothing else will meet the deepest needs of our heart and lift up our soul in God-honoring praise and worship.
The power of praise goes beyond words. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and their soloists are evidence of that fact. When we are praising God in spirit and truth, we are being recharged. When we are being critical of people or circumstances, we only get depressed and discouraged. If you tune into their webcast with an open heart, just be prepared to get filled up and ministered to by the Holy Spirit Himself.
New Testament worship is worship that is caught up with Christ. It involves the mind, but it goes even deeper. It involves the spirit as well. OK, so maybe you don't "get into" raising your hands in worship. No problem. But God definitely wants to "raise your spirit" in worship as He allows you to bask in the flow and the glow of His awesome majesty. And who knows? You might even find yourself lifting up a hand or two along the way. God is so worthy to be praised.
Is your soul being refreshed these days through the power of the Holy Spirit and the message of God's love? If not, God wants to lead you to a spring of living water. It goes way beyond the ministry of any one congregation, and it originates from God's throne in heaven. As He opens His hand toward us, the living water flows down. We receive it at the cross, and then in worship, and then in service to others (in that order). There is nothing like it in the entire world.
And if you are not yet experiencing any thirst for God's living water, I pray that God gives you a thirst today and that you look to Him to quench your thirst. He has been doing that sort of thing for a long time, and He isn't about to stop now.
So go ahead. Get real with God. Worship in a biblical, Christ-centered church near you. And then go online and worship some more. The more you worship Him, the more your life will experience God's peace. And the more you will fulfill His plan for your existence. How cool is that?
