The Captain and Tennille Divorce Announced: 39-Year Marriage Ends
The Captain and Tennille, the famed husband-and-wife singing duo, announced their divorce on Wednesday.
Ironically, their biggest hit was the song "Love Will Keep Us Together," but the pair are parting ways after 39 years of marriage. An Arizona court clerk confirmed the divorce news on Jan. 22, according to CBS News.
Daryl Dragon, also known as The Captain, and his wife Cathryn Antoinette "Toni" Tennille filed the divorce papers in Prescott, Ariz. on Jan. 16, the court clerk said.
Today, the estranged husband and wife are ages 71 and 73, respectively.

They married in 1975 after meeting while Dragon was the keyboardist for The Beach Boys. Tennille went on to join The Beach Boys on tour as an extra keyboardist.
Then, the couple formed their act The Captain and Tennille and released their first album in 1974. In addition to "Love Will Keep Us Together," the duo had hit songs such as "Do That To Me One More Time" and "Muskrat Love," among many others.
Furthermore, the pair hosted their own ABC television series entitled "The Captain and Tennille Show" where Dragon always wore his trademark captain's hat.
Over the course of their career, The Captain and Tennille sold over 23 million albums. They did not have any children.
Although The Captain and Tennille are calling it quits after 39 years together, there are many longstanding marriages in Hollywood that are still strong today. For instance, Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta Washington have been married over 29 years today.
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have been married for 25 years, so have Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick. Also married 25 years is Michael J. Fox, to wife Tracy Pollan.
Other longtime married couples in Hollywood include Tim McGraw and Faith Hill who have been married 19 years, while Will Smith and Jada Pinkett have been married 15 years.
