'The Catch' Season 2 Episode 2 Spoilers: AVI Signs Unlikely Client; Ben, Rhys to Strike a Deal With FBI?
When the premiere episode of "The Catch" season 2 kicked off, Anderson-Vaughan Investigations (AVI) was in dire need of new clients after last season's fiasco, and by the end of that same episode, they finally got one in Margot Bishop (Sonya Walger). How will this unexpected dynamic play into the season's overall narrative?
The next episode titled "The Hammer" teases that the AVI Team will be taking Margot's case, despite Ben Jones (Peter Krause) warning to his fiancée Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) not to get involved with the woman. They're a private investigation and security firm, and Margot needs their services. Turning away a client could put their company in a bad light.
But will they really be able to protect Margot from the sharpshooting assassin hunting her down? And is there really only one hunter aiming to take Margot down?

A sneak peek into the season shows that Alice will have her suspicion. It also teases Rhys Griffiths (John Simm) and Ben's stint as secret operatives for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). But while on the job, they may be tempted to turn to their old ways. How well will they be able to fulfill their end of the deal with the Feds? And will they really be able to prove themselves the best at what they do?
Alice's brother, Tommy Vaughan (T.R. Knight) will also get his own personal slice of trouble when the huge amount of money that appeared on an account he didn't even know about turns out to be drug money. Alice will try to keep his brother out of harm's way, but how much can she really do for a guy who has initially expressed his intention of taking the money and disappearing from the grid?
Knight's character will be recurring throughout the season and is just one of the changes being implemented by the show's sophomore season. There will also be a renewed focus on the lighter sides of the show, like the humor and the romantic elements, especially now that Alice and Ben are on the same side of the law. Or are they really?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-executive producer Allan Heinberg teased that much of Alice's past will be revealed in the current season and that the man she was supposed to marry before meeting Ben will return to the private investigator's life.
"Bringing him back into the picture is going to create all kinds of complications with Ben," Heinberg said.
"The Catch" airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
