The Coalition Studio Head Reveals 'Gears of War 4' Will Be 'Graphical Showcase' for Xbox One
Rod Fergusson, studio head at The Coalition, developer of "Gears of War 4," revealed some details regarding how the upcoming shooter will perform on the Xbox One. He said the title will be a "graphical showcase" and provided information regarding the game's frame rate.
Fergusson is featured in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine US. He told the publication that The Coalition's approach to "Gears of War 4" in terms of its visuals is mainly influenced by its work on "Gears of War Ultimate Edition."
"Delivering [with Ultimate Edition] the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we're leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4," Fergusson told Official Xbox Magazine, as quoted by Nerdleaks.
Currently, developer 343 Industries' "Halo 5: Guardians" and Turn 10 Studios' "Forza Motorsport 6" run on the same frame rate with no problems on the Xbox One.
He also told the magazine that the team behind "Gears of War 4" aims to provide fans the essence of previous "Gears of War" titles but with new elements added as well. This includes giving fans the best graphics possible on Microsoft's current-generation console.
Fergusson compares the upcoming "Gears of War 4" to the previous title in the series, believing the former will release with the same graphical quality as the latter.
"Like how the original Gears of War was a visual showcase for the Xbox 360, Gears of War 4 will be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One," Fergusson said.
Fergusson was part of the team that worked on the original "Gears of War" game at Epic Games. Now, he is heading the studio that will release the latest entry to the "Gears of War" series.
"Gears of War 4" is slated to launch sometime in fall 2016.
