The Dark Knight Rises: Christian Bale Action Scene Viewed in Pittsburgh
Gotham city visited the Steel City over the weekend, as paparazzi captured plot-spoiling images and videos of fight scenes in next year’s blockbuster, “The Dark Knight Rises.”
For four weeks, the crew of the third movie in the rebooted Batman series will be filming in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that nearly 200 people could be seen taking pictures and video of the production process in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
Spectators viewed a simulated snow scene, where fighting ensued between Christian Bale as Batman and the villainous Bane, played by Tom Hardy.
Fans were able to view the scene outside of the St. Paul Cathedral Rectory on North Dithridge Street, along with a newly designed Tumbler vehicle that will serve as a camouflaged Batmobile, according to the Post Gazette.
Aside from the notorious vehicle driven by the dark knight, people were able to watch scenes of Bane after he escapes Arkham Asylum, bringing a mob of prisoners with him. Miranda Tate, Bruce Wayne’s employee, could also be spotted during the weekend filming along with police officer John Blake.
Although fans were treated to an action packed movie scene over the weekend, the film also sparked some real conflict.
A man attempted to steal a police car from an officer near the filming site on Saturday, according to The Sacramento Bee. Detective Robert DiGiacomo was in an unmarked police automobile when Micah Calamosca, 21, opened the car door and demanded the officer to exit.
The culprit claimed that he was a part of “The Dark Knight Rises” film and that stealing the vehicle was part of the script. The officer drew his gun and took Calamosca into custody where he will face charges of robbery.
Although the movie is slated for a July 2012 release, Pittsburgh fans can view more filming on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
