'The Dark Knight Rises' Midnight Showings Reportedly Sold Out (VIDEO)

New reports about the midnight tickets for this summer’s "The Dark Knight Returns" are now reportedly sold out.

The summer blockbuster, which is opening nationwide in theaters on July 20, is highly anticipated by fans of the Batman comics and previous films. This entry will be the last installment of the Batman movie franchise from director Christopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale.

For those who haven’t purchased their tickets for the midnight showing, they may have to come to grips with this next set of bad news. New York midnight showing tickets for the film are reportedly already sold out.

The theaters that had made the tickets available and sold out are New York's AMC Loews Lincoln Square and AMC Loews Universal City.

Advanced midnight screenings for the comic book film are also said to be unavailable now in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

A representative for movie website Fandango told Entertainment Weekly that it’s not unbelievable for movie tickets that are sold way in advance to sell out. "Avatar’s" pre-sale tickets went on sale and were soon sold out four months before it was released in December of 2009.

Label heads and executives at Warner Bros. are hoping to see the success of "The Dark Knight Returns" match the success of its predecessor. "The Dark Knight" currently holds the No. 2 spot for best opening weekend thanks to the $158 million it brought in at the box office in 2008.

The new look for Batman in the upcoming film was recently revealed via Entertainment Weekly’s latest magazine cover. MTV’s Splash Page website commented on the changes to the Batsuit: "Despite nearly a decade having taken place between the two films, it appears as though Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting costume hasn't undergone too many changes since he last battled the Joker."

"His costume has a slightly more copper hue than the silvers we saw in "The Dark Knight," though that could just be a matter of lighting."

The anticipation from fans for the next Batman film can be seen through the sold-out tickets, massive media attention, and trailer hype.
