'The Division' Year 2 DLC Release Date News: First Expansion Set for Summer
New information about the highly anticipated "The Division" Year 2 downloadable content (DLC) has been revealed by Ubisoft Massive.
In an interview with Game Rant, creative director Julian Gerighty revealed that the content set to be released this year will all be for free so there won't be any season pass.
"We are looking to reengage the players in light of the first year celebration for The Division by recommitting ourselves to the game in the upcoming 12 months," he said.

"We will be delivering two separate expansion packs for the game free to everybody in the next 12 months," he went on to say.
The first expansion off "The Division" Year 2 DLC will be released this summer. Gerighty said that this DLC pack will continue the "philosophy of generosity" they started in update 1.4.
"It's a philosophy of generosity and rewarding players for spending time in the game and playing and driving them to player-driven activities where they can craft their own unique stories. That's something we really, really believe in," he explained.
This Year 2 DLC will introduce new events that will allow players to do player versus environment (PvE) with a team and by themselves and continually enrich "The Division" gameplay experience.
The first expansion will bring limited-time events that will offer "The Division" players rewards for participation, completion and competition.
"Basically, taking a set number of activities within the game and adding a spin to them that makes players see them in a whole different light and play them in a whole different way," Gerighty explained.
The creative director also explained that Ubisoft is working on increasing the replayability of the PvE content in "The Division" via the Year 2 DLC.
"This is really PvE focused, at least at the beginning. We may open it up to more activities afterwards, but at the beginning we really want to use all of the activities that are open to everybody. It's a free update, a free expansion, it really is delivering more activities to the greatest number of players in the community," he explained.
The first "The Division" Year 2 DLC will also include a feature in which players can switch loadouts that will help them best in a specific situation.
Another element to expect in the first expansion is feats, which allows "The Division" players to earn unique patches and vanity items all for bragging rights.
The second expansion in the Year 2 DLC, on the other hand, will be focused on expanding the narrative of "The Division."
