The Duggars Defend Ben and Jessa, Other Married Couples Take to the Duggar's Facebook to Support Family

After "19 Kids and Counting" star Jessa Duggar married Ben Seewald early this month and had their first kiss after the ceremony in private, the bride took to Instagram to post the first picture that features the two of them kissing.

Since then, the pair has been criticized and some thought that their public display of affection was inappropriate, but Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar defended the newlyweds by taking their own kissing picture and uploading it to the family's official Facebook page.

"God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun, and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs!" the caption read.

"Recently, Ben and Jessa received some criticism for posting a kissing picture. We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage. We've been married 30 years and are still in love! We had fun trying to duplicate Ben and Jessa's happily married kissing picture. We challenge all married couples to take a happily married picture and post it here," it continued.

A lot of married couples have taken on the challenge, and proceeded to post pictures of them kissing. Some of the most touching ones depicted couples who have been married a long time and have stayed together through difficult times, while others told of love that endures no matter what the circumstances are.

One woman posted a split picture of a couple kissing on their wedding day, and the same couple, looking much older as they kissed. "My husband's grandparents, happily married for 67 years! Heartbreakingly, Dick died last week, but theirs was, truly, the love of a lifetime," the caption read.

The wife of a soldier who was stationed in Iraq posted a picture of her with her husband.

"I wanted to share this picture because it's the happiest day of my life. The day my husband came back from Iraq. He passed away in 2011 due to his complications from his service in Iraq," it read.

One couple posted a picture of them kissing while their seven children gleefully looked on.

"7 kids and counting! We love the Duggars and are so thankful for an amazing family to watch and model with our kids," the caption read.

The Duggars are featured in TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" and are famous for their large family and religious beliefs. In accordance with their Christian faith, the Duggar children go on chaperoned dates, don't hold hands until after engagement, and have their first kiss on their wedding day.
