'The Evil Within 2' Features Easter Eggs, Pays Homage to Some Bethesda Titles

With just days after the launch of "The Evil Within 2," the game continued to surprise players with some Easter eggs that pay homage to some of the Bethesda's previous creations.

According to a report from GameRevolution, there are eight mystery objects scattered throughout the game that players can collect. These objects serve as Easter eggs that give nod eight of Bethesda's core titles. Each of the Easter eggs gives out a brief description that can be connected to its origins coming from the eight titles.

The mysterious objects come from key titles, namely, "Quake," "Dishonored," "Fallout," "Wolfenstein," "The Elder Scrolls," "Prey," "DOOM," and the game's predecessor, "The Evil Within." Players can keep the objects and display them in their safe room, the report added.

Meanwhile, Gamespot noted that players who get to finish the game will be able to unlock the Cinematic Letterboxing option. This allows players to choose enjoy "a more cinematic game experience" using the 2.35:1 aspect ratio that was present during the launching of the first "The Evil Within" game.

The feature proved to be a contentious one in the first game as players complained about the aspect ratio, specifically the black bars found on the top and on the bottom of the screen. In turn, game developer Tango Gameworks released a patch that gave the players a traditional-looking screen.

A day before Friday the 13th last week, Bethesda released the game's trailer that featured protagonist Sebastian Castellanos and his encounters with horrific creatures coming from the STEM. The sequel revoles around his personal quest of finding his lost daughter, Lily, who he thought he had already lost for good several years ago.

"Sebastian must rescue Lily before everything falls apart and they are both lost in STEM," read the game's press release via Gamasutra.

"STEM is a world that can be bent and broken to the will of a few particularly deranged individuals. And the real horror may be the human monsters trapped inside, with the twisted photographer Stefano and the 'righteous' priest Theodore both intent on warping the weakened system to their will," the statement added.

"The Evil Within 2" is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
