'The Exorcist' Season 3 Renewal Update Rumors: Why Show Is Expected to Get Renewed
It looks like fans will be seeing more of "The Exorcist."
The second season of the show is doing well in terms of viewership and ratings, which gives it a better chance to get renewed by FOX.
According to TVLine, "The Exorcist" recently enjoyed improved reception with 1.54 million viewers and a 0.5 rating. While these stats are not the most impressive, IB Times points out that the first season clocked in the same numbers and were enough to get it renewed.
If "The Exorcist" season 2 maintains this performance or even improves in the latter half, fans should expect the show to return for a third go.
The producers of the show have already said that they plan to have every season focus on a new family while keeping the core characters and will tell a completely new story. This means that there will be new things to expect should season 3 happen.
As for the remainder of "The Exorcist" season 2, John Cho, who plays the role of Andy in the current season, teased to TVLine what to expect, particularly in this week's installment:
In the next episode, Andy and the exorcists will butt heads. It's a tremendous scene. I think it was nine pages long, which is a lot in a TV script, and we played it as one scene — like a play. It's special doing that kind of scene with actors that are world-class actors. It was one of the delights of my life to do that kind of scene with those guys.
Whether or not this will be enough to convince FOX to make "The Exorcist" season 3 a reality, fans will just have to wait and see.
The show is returning this Friday with the episode "Darling Nikki" where Marcus (Ben Daniels) and Father Tomas (Alfonso Herrera) face off with a demon they have been trying to capture. The official synopsis reads:
A visit to the foster home carries deadly consequences, as Marcus and Father Tomas attempt to draw the demon out of hiding. Rose (Li Jun Li) finds herself the target of the demon's wrath. And no one suspects that a new danger may be lurking in the woods, waiting for its moment to strike. Meanwhile, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) and Mouse (Zuleikha Robinson) take the fight directly to the conspiracy as they attempt to hunt down an old adversary.
